Setting Sale

Friends, there are at least three reasons why today is shaping up to be a spectacular day:

1. It's Friday afternoon

2. The World Cup has begun

3. Team Pagan embarked upon their first yard sale and emerged as champions

Were my joy to manifest, it would look something like this. The search result after typing "happy jumping people" into Google Images. I would look like the person in between the blue and green panel, but rounder, and likely lower to the ground.

This morning before work, Jon and I drove to a yard sale that a friend-of-a-friend was hosting. After 20 minutes of browsing, we walked away with the following treasures:

1. Baby Bjorn

I kid, although I think it would be hysterical and redundant to see Bjorn donning a Bjorn.

The real deal as purchased by us.

2. Lime Bumbo (plus tray!)

3. Complete Set of Baby Einstein DVD's

I know, the recent lawsuit may have indicated that Baby Einstein products won't, in fact, turn our son into the next DaVinci or Mozart, but if they will keep him engaged in his Bumbo while I'm cooking dinner, we'll consider this purchase a win.

All practically new and obscenely discounted! Yes!

I do like the satisfaction that comes from a successful yard sale experience. Great suggestion, Jon!

Love it! Yard sales rock. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Great items. Can't wait for a slow weekend so Dave and I can hit the yard sales while the weather is still cool.

Love,
Grammy

baby stuff and kid toys are probably the number 1 and 2 (respectively) awesome finds at yard sales... :-) I got an almost complete collection of old school hard back Nancy Drew books at a yard sales when I was a kid. 25 cents each. gotta love it

congrats on your finds! (love your baby einstein pic, by the way... and I laughed out loud at the bjorn pic)

did you know bumbos and the world cup have something in common? They're both from south africa!

While you're out finding brilliant garage sale finds, here are some more suggestions from me of things to look out for:
1) a bouncy chair. if it vibrates, even better. I picked up one for $3 for Callum and he spent HOURS snoozing to its mechanized (but very good, good) vibrations.
2) copy of Weissbluth's "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". I have read, read, and re-read this book. It has been the single most helpful thing I've come across in terms of understanding how children sleep, and what I can expect from sleep patterns at various ages. It's technical at times - but you both are smart and sciencey - you can totally handle it.
3) a boppy. I had both a boppy and a "my breast friend"... and I found I used the boppy for much longer with both kids... both for nursing, and then later for them to play on. At the moment, callum is a "supported sitter", held in place by the pillow!

happy bargain hunting!
